Wednesday, March 29th, 2006“Located in Pleasant Hill, KC-30 was one of three Nike missile sites in Missouri and operated from 1958 to 1968. For the next twenty years, the site was used as a training center for the Missouri National Guard, until it was deactivated and placed on the Base Reassignment and Closure (BRAC) list in 1989. Thanks to David Keetz, who scouted out the location while in the area, we made a little group field trip to inspect the battery. Not only did we find a way into a deep underground area of the site, we also got to ride the elevator that once raised the missiles for launch.”
